Royal angelfish, blue banded angelfish
One of the most widely distributed angelfish species, found from the Red Sea and East Africa to Southern Japan, the Tuamotu Islands and New Caledonia. Easy to spot in many snorkeling destinations, for example in Egypt, Mayotte, Maldives, Indonesia and the Great Barrier Reef.
As most of angelfish species, Pygoplites diacanthus go through aspect changes with growth, and the juveniles are colored differently from the adults.
