Distribution: from the Red Sea and East Africa to Southern Japan, Marquesas and Lord Howe. Common in Micronesia and the Hawaiian Islands.
May be confused with Rhinecanthus verrucosus, Rhinecanthus aculeatus and Rhinecanthus assasi.
